Our
History

1955

MarQuipt founded in Pompano Beach, FL

MarQuipt founded in Pompano Beach, FL by a retired Chris-Craft engineer who had retired to South Florida, our initial product line consisted of helm and cockpit seating.

1960’s

Product line extended to boarding equipment

Product line extended to boarding equipment, including ladders, cockpit steps and articulating Sea-Stairs which adapt configuration to suit tide-change and movement of the vessel to provide easy safe boarding from the dock.

1970’s

Extension of product line to davits & cranes

Extension of product line to traditional winch-operated davits and cranes, radar-arches supplied to OEM boat builders and end-users, and custom aluminum and stainless-steel fabrication services.

1980’s

Development of the Tender-Lift hydraulic linear-winch system

Development of the Tender-Lift hydraulic linear-winch system for davits and cranes, eliminating the traditional drum winch and providing vastly improved performance, user experience, reliability, longevity and sleek, compact designs. Redesign and modernization of the original Sea-Stair.

1990’s

Modernization, CAD/CAM, Marinedeck cork decking

Conversion from traditional paper-drafting to computer assisted design. Standardization of product line. Introduction of Marinedeck cork composite decking as an optional walking surface on all of our boarding equipment, as well as distribution of the product nationwide for new and retrofit decking applications. Research into potential non-aluminum composite davit construction techniques.

2000

A new purpose-built facility

New construction and move into a purpose-built 50,000 sq/ft facility in Pompano Beach, FL

2000’s

New product designs & manufacturing systemizations

New davit designs which extend the Tender-Lift system throughout the majority of our product line, further increasing reliability, functionally, appearance on deck and ease of use, while providing increased options to suit specific needs of vessels and their owners. Further extension of a mature line of boarding equipment and accessories. Continued refinement and improvement of hydraulic passarelles and powered boarding stairs

2010’s

Carbon fiber Sea-Stairs & Radio remote controls

Development of carbon fiber Sea-Stairs and associated accessories. Radio remote capability extended to all hydraulically powered equipment. Further refinement and optimization of all davit, crane, and boarding equipment lines.
